The negotiations on the relationship between the EU and the United Kingdom after the British finally withdrew from the customs union and internal market at the end of the year have been going on for months now on the principle of “whoever shrugs”.
The European Union insists that in the end there must be an all-encompassing agreement that guarantees two things above all:
First, in return for duty-free and quota-free access to the internal market, the British should ensure compliance with previous and future EU standards for Commit state aid, social affairs and labor, the environment, climate and taxes.
